Overview

At BuildBee, Alex owned the entire marketing function for a 3D printing SaaS startup — building a brand from near zero, running every paid channel, managing six social platforms, creating content in-house, and contributing directly to product and UI/UX decisions. Three years of full-stack marketing ownership at a fast-moving startup.

Three years of full-stack ownership at a fast-moving startup.

BuildBee is a cloud-based 3D printing platform spun out of Me3D, and Alex joined as its Marketing Manager at a stage when the brand needed to be carved out and built as a distinct identity. The challenge wasn’t just running campaigns — it was defining what BuildBee stood for, who it was talking to, and how it sounded across every channel.

Over three years, Alex ran every marketing function simultaneously: paid advertising across Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit; SEO and content; email automation and CRM; social media across six platforms; in-house photo and video production; PR; and direct input into product and UI/UX decisions. This is the role that built Alex’s reputation as a genuine full-stack marketer.

Brand, growth, and product influence across three years.

01
Built the BuildBee brand from scratch. Developed and maintained a distinct brand identity for BuildBee — differentiating it from the parent company Me3D, defining the visual language, tone of voice, and positioning that gave the product a unique audience in a niche but fast-growing market.
02
Multi-channel paid advertising ownership. Designed and executed digital campaigns across Google Ads (Search and Display), Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit — managing targeting, creative, budgets, and optimisation across all channels simultaneously with regular reporting and performance reviews.
03
Full social media management across 6 platforms. Managed BuildBee’s presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Reddit — scheduling content via Zoho Social, driving community engagement, and building an audience from the ground up across every platform.
04
Email automation and onboarding workflows. Managed customer data in Zoho CRM, built targeted email lists, created campaigns and autoresponders, and designed a fully automated onboarding email workflow to convert and retain new users at scale.
05
In-house content production. Created image and video content for all marketing channels using Photoshop, Premiere, and Canva — reducing reliance on external creative agencies and enabling faster, more authentic content output. Also wrote copy for the BuildBee blog and contributed to SEO content strategy.
06
Product and UI/UX contribution. Assisted in UI/UX decision making for both the BuildBee website and web app — including running user tests to generate behavioural data that informed product development decisions. Also contributed directly to product roadmap discussions alongside the engineering team.
07
PR and influencer relationships. Managed an ongoing PR campaign to develop relationships with content creators in the 3D printing space — building organic reach and third-party credibility through strategic outreach and long-term relationship management.

What this role demonstrates.

BuildBee is where Alex became a full-stack marketer in the truest sense. Running every channel, producing content in-house, contributing to product decisions, managing a PR programme, and building a brand identity simultaneously — for three years — is the kind of formative experience that produces marketing leaders who genuinely understand every layer of the function.

The UI/UX and product contribution is particularly notable for a senior leadership context: it signals that Alex thinks beyond the marketing brief and engages with the customer experience at a product level — exactly what growth-stage companies need in a Head of Marketing.
